Robinson O. Everett is committed to the concept of smart growth in the Durham community. Mr. Everett is a professor at the Duke University Law School since 1956 and a native and longtime resident of Durham. He is pleased to play a part in the revitalization of a community with such a rich history and deep cultural roots. Mr. Everett relies on an accomplished and enthusiastic team of professionals to carry out the Erwin Terrace project and ensure its success.

He and his wife Linda have three grown sons, Robinson, Jr., Greg and Luke.

M. Joseph Hakan, Professional Engineer, originally from Joplin, Missouri, has lived in Chapel Hill for 50 plus years and has built hundreds of projects in the Triangle Area. Notable examples of Joe's work include the Morehead Planetarium Sundial, The Sienna Hotel, Crabtree Valley Mall and Dean Smith Center. He was the Chief Engineer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the 1950s, and resigned in 1963 to open his own business, which became Hakan & Corley. Presently, Joe is a developer and consultant out of Rental Housing Preservation. He has served as President of the Public Private Partnership and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce. In addition to apartment complexes in Atlanta and Orlando, he and his son own Raleigh's City Market, and he belongs to the Downtown Raleigh Alliance. Joe published in 1996 a collection of his newspaper columns in Daddy, Why Are Those Two Naked Men Sleeping in That Tree? He and his wife Joy are enthusiastic Tar Heel fans, and they have four grown children.

Gurlitz Architectural Group, PA is a full service architectural firm based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Founded in 1988, the firm is dedicated to providing an uncompromising commitment to design and client service.

The firm offers complete architectural design services for new construction and renovations, including land use and master planning, program development, existing building analysis, project feasibility studies, space planning and interior design.

Richard A Gurlitz, Principal in Charge -- Richard founded the firm in 1988. He obtained a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1977 where he was a graduate projects instructor. He earned his Bachelors of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1973, majoring in architectural history. Richard has provided the design and administration for many of the projects produced by the firm and maintains a strong design influence on all projects. He has been practicing as a licensed architect in North Carolina for 16 years.

Nathan Harms, Project Designer -- Nathan received the degrees of Bachelor in Architecture and Bachelor in Environmental Design form Ball State University in May of 1999. While at Ball State he studied ancient culture and classical architecture while traveling in Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Germany and England. Nathan brings both his strong rendering and 3D computer modeling skills to the Gurlitz team.
