Durham, NC - The developer of the Erwin Terrace mixed-use
development at Erwin Road, Joe Hakan, announced that
grading for the first building site(Phase I) began
this week.
Building One will provide retail shopping space
and upscale apartment living.

The groundbreaking ceremony for Erwin Terrace took
place on May 2, 2002. Among those present for the
cermony were members of the team involved in developing
and implementing the project, including: owner Robinson
Everett, developer Joe Hakan, architect Richard Gurlitz,
commercial leasing agent Marlene Spritzer, Chuck and
Charlie Wilson from builder CT Wilson Construction,
and Gloria Fortune from apartment management company
Team Inc.

Also in attendance were Durham City Council members
Thomas Stith and John Best, Jr. Durham County Commissioners
Mary Ann Black(chair), Becky Heron, and Ellen Reckhow
attended. Cary Greene represented the Chamber of Commerce.
Several representatives from Duke University and
other local businesses came to show their support
for the project. In all, some 75 people attended.
